I absolutely LOVED the plain English video from the course so much that I have embedded it here in my blog so I have easy access to it when I am a teacher...

After watching this video I was excited about the idea of creating an interesting WIKI that I could get some collaborators on. When I got a great idea and whipped it up
Alas! It was not functioning correctly. I needed to discover what I had done wrong but was not skilled enough to do so. I decided to check out other WIKIs created by other students in this course. I ran into a wall of restriction messages like this one:
Yes! He got in!!! NOOOOOOOO!!! My created content was not there. Whoa is me! I need to explore this more but I have loads of assessment to get to so I'm going to have to revisit at some point in the future.
On a separate note, I put the word out in a couple of my Facebook groups to add to my WIKI. So far no one has participated. This alerts me to two things...
1. Is this user friendly for collaborators? If people who want to help me out meet roadblocks along the way, it is reasonable to expect it would go straight into their "too hard basket".
2. An interactive and great WIKI I believe would be enhanced by invested collaborators. As a teacher, it would be essential to make the WIKI something that is VALUED by the students. Otherwise the resulting WIKI would consist of lacklustre forced efforts.
Something to be explored!!
Awrsome blog!
ReplyDeleteI learnt something about WIKI, thank you for that.
I feel your frustration also, the video explain a lot but failed to mention how all the buddies got in contacted with each other? ICT = only as good as the provider!
